Now we're getting somewhere. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , the Corvette accessory drive kit was installed over the weekend. This moves the alternator up and out of the way of the narrow frame rails of the 4runner.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

I was left with a pile of old components and brackets to deal with, but there are a few things that are worth taking the time to sell.

I also picked up a Toyota R150F transmission that bolts to the 3.0L Toyota V6. This trans is a bit stronger as its 2WD variant was used on the first generation Toyota Supra. That being said, it's probably still destined to become a pile of shredded scrap behind the 5.7L LS1. Oh well, they are mighty plentiful and about $240 a pop for a warrantied scrap yard reclaim.

I was a bit worried about the trans since it had some water in its oil. I had no idea how long the water had been in it, so it was time to take a look. Off came the transfer case and the rear housing to inspect the gearset.

Kinja'd!!!

There was no rust, the shafts spun happily and all the gears engaged willingly. After a thorough bath of Water Displacing - 40, I bolted the old girl back together and threw in some gear oil to keep everything coated.

All in all a good weekend with surprisingly little facepalming.

Oh, that's right, I did manage to accidentally drop the alternator while it was still plugged in and yank the wiring out of the plug. So there's that.

Are you going to run a stock clutch, or are you at least upgrading the clutch?

Those transmissions can take a hell of a beating, I've seen them bolted behind blown 1UZ-FE's (Toyota V8) with few problems, They also stick them behind 1KZ-TE's (I4 Diesel) which is a pretty torquey beast.

As for the alternator, it could be worse... You could yank the wires out of the 3.0l 3VZ-FE MAF sensor, that's always fun.

I'm running a custom 10.5" clutch disk made by McLeod Clutches with a 10.5" Flywheel and Pressure Plate intended for LS1 made by SPEC clutches.

The clutch is provided by Advance Adapters for Toyota R150F transmission splines to LT1 350 which is a 10.5" setup. The LS1 comes with an 11" clutch, but there are 10.5" flywheel/clutch/pressure plate kits for it.

Basically, it's a 10.5" setup with a custom clutch disk.

Do you know if the transfer case would hold up if I did this with a 4WD setup?

The transfer case should be fine. Actually, I'm doing a 4WD setup. I'm using a gear driven transfer case from a 22-RE truck since I already have one. But that requires another adapter from Advance Adapters. The weak point in the build is the transmission. The trans is only supposed to support around 180hp from the engine but the transfer case and drive train after the t-case are sized up to take the extra power of low range.

That being said, they are not sized up enough to deal with hard launches and sudden throttle application from a 300hp V8. That's why I plan to stay on 31" tires. The bigger the tire, the more stress on the drivetrain.

Alright, I have a second gen that I plan on doing a swap when I can first afford a cheap daily driver. The 3VZE sucks and I NEED MORE POWER.
